JOEL GUILD MEMORIAL CONCERT AND FUNDRAISER 2023 - SUNDAY, JUNE 4
The late Joel Guild, an avid musician and supporter of youth music education, passed on in December 2021. In his honor, his wife Gayle Karafil endowed CityMusic Columbus (http://www.citymusiccolumbus.org) and held the very 1st JoelFest about a year ago. It was such a success, Ms. Karafil has made it an annual event. On Sunday, June 4, 2023, beginning at 12 noon and stretching until 7:50pm, JoelFest II (or, the 2nd Annual JoelFest) takes place at the spot of the inaugural event: Gatsbys Bar And Grille (151 N Hamilton Rd) in Gahanna, Ohio. This special event benefits CityMusic Columbus' programs, including Youth Guitar Classes, Early Childhood Music and the Teen Songwriting Lab. In addition to a special presentation to, and performance by CityMusic Kids, the 2nd Annual JoelFest features nearly 8 hours of music performed by some of the top recording artists and musicians in central Ohio, including Donna Mogavero & 10AHEAD (Jim Johnson, Billy Zenn, Aaron Pauley), Willie Phoenix & The Soul Underground ( Steven Day Carter, Chuck Burchfield), Dexter Wesley & Red Hot Lava (Myke Rock - Myke Rock, Ramon Bern Robinson), Bob Sauls, Billy Zenn & Jim Lynch, Theresa Caldwell & Village (Gayle Karafil/Gayle Karafil Music, Shawn Burroughs, Duane Hall), Chaz Mechenbier, Mark See, The Brian Clash Band (Clyde Hannah, Christina Dorr, Jack Ballard), and Reuben James Roman! There is a $15 entry fee, while kids under 12 enter free. Music, raffles, sales, excellent food and drink, and more, make it a great way to spend a Sunday!
